Lewis, a Black male, was found inside his pickup truck at 3316 Manor Court on the city's east side. He had been fatally shot. The initial call to police around 1 a.m.
was for a vehicle accident, but the grim reality of a homicide was soon apparent to the responding officers.
Investigators quickly determined that the shooting was likely not a random act of violence. Evidence suggested that the person responsible for Calvin's death had been inside the truck with him when the fatal shot was fired. Authorities believe Calvin may have known his assailant, and they have explored a possible drug-related motive in the killing. Despite these initial leads and the belief that the suspect was known to the victim, the case has grown cold over the years.
In the wake of his death, family and friends gathered for a prayer circle to remember Calvin, who was born on December 30, 1989.
