Gillace Monroe 'Joe' Samples, aged 42, died on August 13, 2015, in Beech Grove, Indiana, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred following a shoplifting attempt at a local Wal-Mart. On the morning of August 13, Samples and another suspect, Johnny Maxey, were caught shoplifting by Wal-Mart employees, including an off-duty Marion County Sheriff's Department deputy working as a security guard.
