Joseph William Klein, a 70-year-old Caucasian male, was a familiar and friendly face to many on the east side of Indianapolis. As the owner of Allied Liquor, he had spent years serving his community, building friendships with his customers and suppliers. His life, however, was tragically cut short on the evening of March 12, 2016, in a senseless act of violence that shook the neighborhood.
Three men entered his store with the intention of robbing it, and during the commission of the crime, Klein was fatally shot. The news of his death sent ripples of grief and anger through the community he had long been a part of.
