On March 6, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred near Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis, resulting in the death of 35-year-old Donnie Lee Sanders. Sanders, a temporary employee working through an agency, was setting up for an upcoming motocross event at the stadium when the incident happened.
