On April 1, 2018, Juanti Jackson, a 37-year-old Black male, was found shot in the 3500 block of North Hawthorne Lane. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene around 5:20 p.m. following reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Jackson suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. Despite the immediate response from law enforcement and emergency medical services, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The coroner would later officially rule his death a homicide, confirming the violent nature of his passing. Jackson, born on March 26, 1981, was just days past his 37th birthday.
