He was discovered inside a car on Ritter Avenue, the vehicle riddled with bullets. Rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries hours later.

Just four months prior to his death, Cortez's twin brother, Comfort Glass, also 17 at the time, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with a separate deadly shooting. Cortez's family believes his killing may have been an act of retaliation for the crime his brother was accused of committing.
As of the most recent updates, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department continues to investigate the homicide of Cortez Glass. Despite the suspected connection to his brother's case, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in his death. In March 2024, Comfort Glass pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of robbery resulting in serious bodily injury and was sentenced to 20 years in prison; his murder charge was dismissed.
