James Edward Cofield III, aged 23, was fatally shot on March 4, 2010, in Indianapolis, Indiana. James, who was known for his close ties to family and friends, had spent much of his time working in the community and taking care of those he loved. His death was part of a growing pattern of unsolved homicides that had begun to trouble the city, contributing to Indianapolis's high rate of violent crime at that time.
