In the early hours of May 17, 2017, the life of 28-year-old Tamin James 'Timmy' Osborne was tragically cut short in his hometown of Gary, Indiana. He was a Black male, a father, son, and brother. Just after midnight, police responded to calls of shots fired in the 3700 block of Monroe Street. Upon their arrival, they discovered a parked vehicle with two occupants inside, both of whom had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The man in the driver's seat was identified as Tamin Osborne, and
the woman beside him was 28-year-old Sheila Jones, also of Gary. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, and their deaths were officially ruled as homicides. The incident was investigated by the Lake County/Gary Metro Homicide Unit, which urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
Despite the efforts of law enforcement and the passage of time, publicly available information regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in the murders of Tamin Osborne and Sheila Jones remains scarce. No significant updates on the resolution of the case have been reported in the media. The community was left to mourn the loss of two of its members, with funeral services for Tamin held at Powell & Coleman Funeral Home before he was laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park. He was survived by his son, parents, and numerous siblings.
