In the spring of 2018, the life of 45-year-old Byron Davenport Jr. was tragically cut short. On the evening of May 19th, the Indianapolis man was shot in the 2400 block of Sheldon Street. He succumbed to his injuries from the gunfire, leaving a family and community to mourn his sudden and violent death. Davenport was a Black male.
The investigation into the homicide led authorities to identify a suspect, Harold Pulliam.
For a time, Pulliam remained at large, but the collaborative efforts of local and federal law enforcement, aided by information from the community, resulted in his arrest in August of that year. An arrest warrant had been issued for his alleged involvement in the shooting death of Davenport, which was reportedly preceded by a disagreement.
Following his arrest, Harold Pulliam faced a murder charge for the death of Byron Davenport Jr. The case proceeded through the legal system, culminating in a trial. In August of 2019, a jury found Harold Pulliam not guilty of murder. This verdict concluded the criminal proceedings surrounding the death of Byron Davenport Jr.
