Erica Franklin, a 31-year-old woman originally from Nashville, Tennessee, was found shot to death in her hotel room at the La Quinta Inn & Suites on Walden Road in Beaumont, Texas, on November 23, 2016. The Beaumont Police Department investigated her death as a homicide. Franklin's body was discovered by hotel staff who had been alerted to an unresponsive woman in the room.
