On the afternoon of Memorial Day, May 28, 2018, 18-year-old Elijah D. Lacey was sitting in his pickup truck in a parking lot shared by a Crown Liquors and a Waffle House near 21st Street and Post Road in Indianapolis, Indiana. A senior at Lawrence Central High School, Elijah was just one week away from his graduation.
