In the summer of 2018, the small community of Paris Crossing, Indiana, became the final resting place for 26-year-old Joseph Michael Guadagnoli. A resident of nearby Madison, Guadagnoli was the subject of a search by the Jennings County Sheriff's Department, who were attempting to serve him with a parole violation warrant. For a couple of days, he had managed to avoid the deputies who were looking for him.
The search came to a somber end on Thursday, July 19, 2018, when he was discovered deceased inside a local residence.
The discovery was made after a deputy on patrol noticed an open door on a house that had previously been secured. This observation prompted a closer look, revealing that a back door had been forcibly opened. Concerned for the safety of anyone who might be inside, deputies conducted a sweep of the home. It was during this search that they found Guadagnoli's body.
The investigation into the circumstances of his death concluded that Guadagnoli had died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The residence where he was found did not belong to him, and the homeowner was not there at the time. Authorities quickly determined that there was no evidence of foul play, and as a result, no suspects were sought and no arrests were made in connection with his death. Joseph, who was born on January 7, 1992, was remembered by those who knew him as a man with a big heart who loved music, dancing, and animals.
