In the early morning hours of June 8, 2019, the life of 41-year-old Demetrice Taylor, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in Michigan City, Indiana. Around 1:58 a.m., the sound of gunshots pierced the quiet of the Eastport Neighborhood, prompting a response from the Michigan City Police Department. Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Grace Street, where they discovered Taylor suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
An immediate homicide investigation was
launched by the Michigan City Police Department, with assistance from the Investigative Division, the LaPorte County HIDTA Drug Task Force, and the LaPorte County Sheriff's investigation team. Detectives began the arduous process of interviewing neighbors, acquaintances, and relatives in an effort to piece together the events that led to Taylor's death. Despite these efforts, the case has remained unsolved.
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Demetrice Taylor, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
