On the evening of September 11, 2019, 19-year-old Javon D. Bertram, a Black male, was shot and killed while sitting in his car on 23rd Street near Riverside Park in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was found in the vehicle and transported to a hospital where he later died. Police questioned another individual who was also in the car at the time of the shooting.
Javon was born on February 18, 2000, and had attended the Crossing School and Franklin Central High School.
He was remembered by loved ones as a vibrant person who enjoyed spending time with his friends and girlfriend. His family expressed deep grief and frustration over his death, stating that his life was taken for no apparent reason.
Despite law enforcement's efforts, the investigation into Javon Bertram's murder has faced challenges. To date, no arrests have been made, and the identity of any suspects remains unknown. His family and community members have made public pleas for anyone with information to come forward to assist in solving the case, which remains open.
