In the early afternoon of December 1, 2019, the life of 22-year-old Ibn Ali Waller was tragically cut short on the west side of Indianapolis. A Black male, Waller was found by Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers in the 1200 block of North Whitcomb Avenue, near the intersection of 10th Street and North Lynhurst Drive, at approximately 12:45 p.m. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed that the cause of his death was the gunshot wounds he suffered.
The shooting occurred during a weekend marked by a spate of violence in the city, leaving the community unsettled. In the wake of the incident, law enforcement began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting of Ibn Ali Waller. However, details about what led to the fatal event have not been released to the public.
To date, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has not publicly identified any suspects in connection with Waller's death, and no arrests have been made.
