In the late hours of a Tuesday in Indianapolis, 45-year-old Damion Dewion Cole, a Black man, was found with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a hotel on the north side of the city. The discovery was made on August 22, 2023, marking a somber moment in the community. Despite the prompt arrival of emergency medical services, his life could not be saved, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
