On the night of August 22, 2023, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 9000 block of Wesleyan Road, located on the city's north side. Upon arrival around 11:01 p.m., officers discovered 45-year-old Damion Dewion Cole suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot adjacent to a hotel. Despite prompt medical attention, Mr. Cole was pronounced dead at the scene.
