In the early hours of a Sunday morning on May 31, 2020, tragedy struck on the northeast side of Indianapolis. William Scott III, a 30-year-old Black male, was caught in a burst of gunfire that would abruptly end his life. The incident unfolded shortly before 2:30 a.m. on the 3700 block of Orchard Avenue, a residential street that was soon to become a crime scene.
