On May 6, 2017, 17-year-old Angel Zaire Mejia-Alfaro was shot and killed during a violent incident on Indianapolis' northwest side. The shooting also critically injured two of his friends, Dijon Anderson and Darius Moore, who were with him at the time. Mejia-Alfaro was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred near the intersection of 38th Street and Moller Road and was part of a broader wave of violence in the city.
