In the early morning hours of October 4, 2020, the life of 19-year-old Emoni Milynn Martin was tragically cut short in her Fort Wayne, Indiana apartment. The young mother had been enjoying a night with friends when the father of her child, Ronald Williams III, forced his way into her home. Just days before, Emoni had been reported missing and was found in Indianapolis with Williams, a situation that left her deeply shaken and fearful.
Inside her apartment at the Centennial Townhomes, as
her friends were in another room, Williams confronted Emoni and a male friend. Gunshots shattered the peace of the night, and Emoni was heard pleading for her life and worrying about her children. Williams shot her ten times, even after she had fallen to the floor, and also shot and injured her male companion. A friend who was hiding in the children's bedroom witnessed the horrific events and later identified Williams as the assailant.
Following an investigation, Ronald Williams III was arrested and charged with murder, battery by means of a deadly weapon, and a firearm enhancement. During his trial, the jury heard testimony about the prior incident where he had taken Emoni against her will and evidence from the crime scene that connected him to the murder.
Ultimately, a jury found Ronald Williams III guilty on all counts. He was sentenced to a total of 91 years in prison for the murder of Emoni Milynn Martin and the battery of the other man in the apartment. The court also revoked his probation from a previous conviction.
