Deborah Atkins Winkler, aged 61, was found dead on September 27, 2016, in a room at the Hampton Inn in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. According to the Greenville County Coroner, she had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Her husband, Glenn Jowett Winkler, aged 67, was also found in the same room with a gunshot wound to the head. He was unconscious but still breathing at the time and later died at the hospital. His death was ruled a suicide.
