In the early morning hours of Sunday, September 28, 2025, a tragic shooting in Irmo, South Carolina, claimed the life of 37-year-old Rachel Leeann Hinson Branham. The incident unfolded around 1:15 a.m. on Forest Walk Court, where deputies from the Richland County Sheriff's Department responded to reports of shots fired.
Upon their arrival, authorities first located a male victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
This individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was able to provide crucial information to the deputies, directing them to the location of the shooter. Following this lead, deputies approached a nearby residence where they found 65-year-old Keith Bagley sitting on his front porch, drinking a beer. Bagley was taken into custody by the authorities at the scene.
Shortly after detaining Bagley, deputies discovered Branham unresponsive in the doorway of the home, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have stated that Branham, the injured male victim, and Bagley were all acquainted with one another, although a specific motive for the shooting has not been publicly disclosed as the investigation remains ongoing. Keith Bagley was arrested and has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and is awaiting a bond hearing. Court records indicate that Bagley has a prior criminal history, including a 2014 conviction for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
