Shirley McKenzie, a 22-year-old woman from Irmo, South Carolina, tragically lost her life on June 8, 2014. She was shot and killed inside the Cockpit Bar and Grill, a Midlands bar located off Berryhill Road near Irmo. The incident occurred between 4 and 4:30 a.m., during which multiple shots were fired inside the crowded establishment, which had around 200 patrons at the time.
