In a tragic turn of events, 18-year-old Dajohiona Dae Arrington, a Black female from Fort Wayne, Indiana, lost her life on September 11, 2016. She was a victim in a brutal quadruple murder that unfolded at a residence on Holton Avenue. The horrific incident also claimed the lives of 37-year-old Consuela Arrington, 18-year-old Traeven Harris, and Dajohiona's full-term unborn baby, who was to be named A.J.
The crime scene was described by law enforcement as a 'house of horror' due to the
savage nature of the killings. Responding officers discovered a gruesome scene and found Marcus Dansby, then 23, covered in blood and holding a large, blood-soaked knife. An investigation revealed that Dansby had been in a prior relationship with Dajohiona Arrington. The couple had reportedly separated after she became pregnant with another man's child.
Dansby was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with four counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. During the legal proceedings, it came to light that Dansby had a troubled past, including witnessing the death of a close friend, which was said to have impacted his mental health. Despite initial claims of innocence and attempts to shift the blame to an unknown person, the evidence against him was substantial.
Ultimately, Marcus Dansby pleaded guilty but mentally ill to the charges. While the court acknowledged his mental health issues, the severity and senselessness of his actions were emphasized. In July 2019, Dansby was sentenced to 300 years in prison for the murders. The judge, during sentencing, noted his lack of remorse and the brutal nature of the crimes he committed.
