In the early hours of a Monday morning, a quiet road in Leo-Cedarville became the scene of a tragedy that cut short the life of Nicole Danielle Beason, a 41-year-old White female from the Fort Wayne, Indiana area. First responders were dispatched to Tonkel Road around 3:59 a.m. on August 19, 2024, following a report of a vehicle that had struck a guardrail.
Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene inside the car.
Nicole Beason was found in the vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. Alongside her was her husband, 44-year-old Robert Glenn Beason. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene. Inside the vehicle, authorities also located two long guns. The Allen County Coroner's Office later confirmed that Nicole's cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head, and her manner of death was ruled a homicide. Her passing marked the 25th homicide in Fort Wayne and Allen County for the year 2024.
The investigation into the deaths concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide. It was determined that Robert Glenn Beason died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Law enforcement officials believe this was an isolated event, involving only the two individuals found in the vehicle, and assured the public that there was no ongoing threat.
Nicole, known to her loved ones as Nikki, was a registered nurse who had fulfilled her lifelong dream of entering the medical field after graduating from Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne. She was remembered for her dedication as a hospice caregiver, often putting the needs of her patients before her own. She was described as a loving mother to her two children, Lexi and Kayla Beason.
