In the autumn of 2023, a somber series of events unfolded in Fort Wayne, Indiana, beginning with the discovery of a young woman's body. On the morning of Friday, October 20, 2023, the remains of 34-year-old Vanessa Lyn Brabson, a Black female, were found near Bloomingdale Park on Sherman Boulevard. The cause of her death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head, and her death was officially ruled a homicide. She was the 22nd homicide victim in Allen County that year.
