A quiet Sunday morning in Indianapolis was shattered by gunfire, leaving a young man's life tragically cut short. In the early hours of July 30, 2017, police responded to a report of a person shot in the 5600 block of Abercromby Circle on the city's northwest side. There they found Timothy Wayne Womack, a 27-year-old African-American male, suffering from critical gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Womack's death was one of several homicides that occurred during a particularly violent weekend in the city, a period that came to be known as 'Bloody Sunday.' The incident that claimed Womack's life unfolded at approximately 2:30 a.m. He was a father to a young daughter, Alexis R. Womack, and was survived by his parents, Sherri Womack and Timothy W. Morton, as well as his siblings and grandparents.
