In the autumn of 2014, the life of Richard Alonzo 'Baby Richie' Waldon, a 20-year-old male from Indianapolis, was tragically cut short. A 2012 graduate of North Central High School, Waldon was known for his passion for music, managing the local hip-hop group NA$A Team, and his love of sports, including baseball, basketball, and football. His vibrant life, however, came to a violent end on the evening of November 7, 2014.
On that fateful night, Waldon was involved in a drug transaction
that turned deadly. He had arranged to purchase marijuana from 18-year-old Raymond Hudson at a residence on North Spencer Avenue. According to court documents, Waldon’s intention was to take the marijuana without paying. However, the encounter escalated, and Hudson shot Waldon multiple times. Despite being gravely wounded, Waldon managed to get back to his vehicle. He was driven to Community East Hospital, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The investigation into Waldon's death swiftly led authorities to Raymond Hudson. In January 2015, Hudson was arrested and charged with murder. Evidence found at the scene, including shell casings that matched ammunition discovered at Hudson's home, directly linked him to the shooting. Ultimately, Hudson pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter. In January 2016, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison, which was to be followed by three years of work release.
