In the summer of 2021, a burst of gunfire on the near northeast side of Indianapolis set in motion a tragedy that would end a man's life two weeks later. On the evening of Tuesday, July 20, police were called to the 3400 block of North Temple Avenue after reports of shots being fired. Not long after, a 61-year-old man named Anthony Sterling was left at an Indianapolis Fire Department station on Sherman Drive, suffering from a gunshot wound.
