On November 16, 2021, a double homicide occurred in East Chicago, Indiana, claiming the lives of two men. The incident took place at an apartment located at 3901 Pulaski Street. Around 5:00 p.m., police were dispatched to the residence after a friend of the tenant visited the home to check on him. Upon entering, the friend discovered a lifeless body in the living room and immediately contacted 911.
Officers arriving at the scene found the tenant, identified as 29-year-old Jamal D.
Loving, African American, deceased in the living room. He had sustained gunshot wounds to the head and left forearm. As investigators searched the rest of the apartment, they discovered a second victim in a rear bedroom. This victim was identified as 38-year-old Harold Richardson. Like Loving, Richardson had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The Lake County Coroner’s Office pronounced both men dead at the scene.
The deaths of Richardson and Loving marked the ninth and tenth homicides in East Chicago for the year 2021. The East Chicago Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division launched an inquiry into the shootings, urging anyone with information to contact detectives or use the anonymous tip line. Despite the investigation, public records indicate that no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murders.
