In the fading light of a November afternoon, a burst of rapid gunfire shattered the downtown clamor of East Chicago, Indiana, leaving two young men dead and a community in shock. On Friday, November 26, 2021, 24-year-old Bashair Woods, a resident of Chicago, Illinois, was fatally shot in what police described as a targeted attack.
