In the winter of 2021, the life of 20-year-old Ayania Starr Coker was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence in Fort Wayne, Indiana. On the afternoon of Sunday, December 5th, Ayania was driving near the intersection of Eckart and Reed Streets when her life was forever altered. Unbeknownst to her, someone in another vehicle would soon open fire, striking her and causing her car to crash into a parked vehicle on Euclid Avenue.

Ayania critically injured. She was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, but tragically, she succumbed to her injuries the following day, on Monday, December 6, 2021. The Allen County Coroner's Office later confirmed that her death was a result of the shooting and officially ruled it a homicide, marking the 44th such case in Fort Wayne and Allen County for that year.
In the wake of this devastating event, the Fort Wayne Police Department launched an investigation into her death. Despite their efforts, the identity of the person or persons responsible for Ayania's shooting remains unknown. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been made in connection with her murder, and the case continues to be an open investigation. The community was left to mourn the loss of a young life, with a killer still at large.
