On September 28, 2021, 61-year-old Arlene Shelton, a Black female, was fatally shot, marking the 30th homicide in Allen County for that year. The incident unfolded in the 1400 block of Ventura Lane, where police responded to reports of gunfire around 10:50 p.m.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Ms.
Shelton in the driveway of a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Initial reports suggest she was inside a vehicle when the shooting occurred.
