In the early morning hours of April 14, 2022, the life of 36-year-old Dustin Jermaine Evans was tragically cut short in Indianapolis. Evans, a beloved father, husband, son, and brother, was shot and killed on North Sherman Drive in a senseless act of gun violence that shook his community. He had just celebrated his 36th birthday the month prior and was eagerly awaiting the birth of his baby girl.
Dustin was born on March 18, 1986, in Anderson, Indiana.
A man known for his loving and loyal nature, he was a protector to those he cared about. He was a hard worker, having been employed at a CVS Warehouse and as a security guard. He had a passion for sports, particularly football, basketball, and wrestling, and also possessed an artistic side, enjoying drawing, acting, dancing, and singing. He was a member of the 'Capital Punishment' motorcycle club.
On the day of his death, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a call of a person shot around 2:45 a.m. and found Evans suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The community gathered to mourn his loss, remembering him as a man the city loved.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, police began searching for a black Ford F-150 that was seen leaving the area shortly after the incident. The circumstances that led to the shooting remained under investigation. No arrests or suspects have been publicly identified in connection with his murder. He is survived by his wife, eight children, and a large extended family.
