In the summer of 2022, a tragic event unfolded on the east side of Indianapolis that ended the life of 46-year-old Elexis Washington. On the evening of June 16, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the Country Hearth Hotel, located near the intersection of East 21st Street and North Post Road, following reports of a shooting.
