Laurance Clay Magnum, a 25-year-old Black man, was a talented musician, known for playing the drums at various churches in the Gary and Chicagoland areas. His life was cut short in a burst of violence that erupted just after midnight on July 5, 2022. He was attending a block party in the 1900 block of Missouri Street in his hometown of Gary, Indiana, when a mass shooting occurred. Magnum was visiting childhood friends when the tragic event unfolded.
