In the late morning of a Saturday in Gary, Indiana, a discovery was made that would forever alter the lives of one family. On March 18, 2017, the body of 24-year-old Jason D. Harris, a Black male, was found in the backyard of a vacant home in the 400 block of Ellsworth Street. Officers were dispatched to the scene around 9:45 a.m. after a report of a man lying face-down in the yard.
