On a Sunday evening in Gary, Indiana, what began as a simple errand ended in tragedy. Arlandus Jackson, a 37-year-old male from Chicago, was in the 900 block of Williams Street with another individual, delivering a motor to a friend on October 2, 2022. The two were outside their truck when an unidentified man, clad entirely in blue and brandishing a rifle, emerged from a nearby alley.
Without warning, the man opened fire in their direction.
In the sudden hail of bullets, Jackson was struck. In a desperate attempt to save his life, he was rushed by private vehicle to Methodist Hospital, Northlake Campus. Despite the swift transport and the efforts of medical staff, Arlandus Jackson succumbed to his gunshot wound and was pronounced dead.
In the wake of the shooting, the Gary Police Department and the Metro Homicide Division launched an investigation. Authorities stated that they did not believe the shooting was a random act of violence, nor was it thought to be connected to drugs or gang activity. At the time, police indicated they had 'very good leads' in the case. However, there have been no subsequent public announcements regarding any arrests, or the identification of any suspects in connection with the death of Arlandus Jackson.
