Patrolman George Pettit Thomas, aged 35, tragically died on November 20, 1930, after succumbing to gunshot wounds he received 11 days earlier. On November 9, 1930, while on duty in Roanoke, Virginia, Patrolman Thomas encountered a drunk man on Norfolk Avenue.
