Detective Russell Clinton Pettie, aged 30, tragically lost his life on January 20, 1954, in Arlington, Virginia. He was serving as a detective with the Arlington County Police Department at the time of his death. Detective Pettie was killed in the line of duty while attempting to serve an arrest warrant to a suspect known to be armed and dangerous.
