A heartbreaking incident in Fairfax, Virginia, on February 28, 1973, resulted in the death of two-year-old William McMillan. The male toddler was a victim in a devastating murder-suicide carried out by his father.
The tragedy occurred when 36-year-old Harry McMillan shot and killed his estranged wife, 21-year-old Delores S. McMillan, his mother-in-law, 53-year-old Ruth M. Sherman, and his young son, William. The violence took place at a rented cabin at 8811 Lee Highway. Following the murders, Harry McMillan committed suicide.
William was transported to Fairfax Hospital, where he died from his injuries. The case was recorded as one of 18 murders or homicides in Fairfax County that year. Because the person responsible for the deaths also died at the scene, there were no arrests or further legal proceedings in this case.
