Clyde Dewey Jenkins, a 72-year-old grocer from Hampton, Virginia, was tragically killed on June 27, 1985, during a robbery attempt at his supermarket. Jenkins was shot multiple times by Herman Charles Barnes, who entered the store armed and wearing a nylon stocking over his head. During the struggle, Jenkins was shot twice, and a store clerk, Mohammad Afifi, who rushed to help, was also shot and killed.
