On the cold evening of February 1, 1992, in Richmond, Virginia, a violent encounter cut short the life of 26-year-old Torrick L. Brown. Inside an apartment, a brutal altercation escalated, resulting in Brown being shot in the upper body. The violence of that night also left his sister, Martha McCoy, critically injured with multiple gunshot wounds to her stomach and arms.
