In the late summer of 2007, the life of 26-year-old Dockim Rashauna Alexander was tragically cut short in Henrico, Virginia. On the evening of September 17th, Henrico Police were called to the vicinity of Windomere Avenue after reports of a shooting. According to witness statements, Alexander was seen running from an assailant who then shot him. His body was later discovered in the backyard of a home in the 500 block of Windomere Avenue. The cause of his death was a gunshot wound.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 27, 1980, Dockim was one of thirteen children. He had relocated to Richmond, Virginia, after having spent his formative years in New Jersey where he graduated from Bloomfield High School. He was the father of two daughters and two stepchildren. His loved ones remembered him in an obituary published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, and a graveside service was held at Evergreen Cemetery.
Despite the witness accounts of a suspect, the individual who shot Dockim Alexander has never been identified. The case remains an open and unsolved homicide. Henrico County Police continue to list it as a cold case, appealing to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the investigation and bring justice to his family. No arrests have ever been made in connection with his murder.
