Detective Jarrod Brent Shivers, a 34-year-old officer with the Chesapeake Police Department, tragically lost his life on January 17, 2008, while serving in the line of duty. Shivers, a native of El Paso, Texas, had been a dedicated member of the Chesapeake community for eight years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and had served with the police department for the same duration. Shivers was part of the Special Investigations Section and was also a SWAT Team operator and breacher.
