Heidi Lynn Childs, an 18-year-old Virginia Tech student, was tragically murdered on August 26, 2009, along with her friend David Lee Metzler. The two were found dead at Caldwell Fields, a rural recreation area in Jefferson National Forest, Montgomery County, Virginia. Heidi's body was discovered outside the vehicle, while David's was found inside. Both had been shot, and the crime scene indicated a double homicide.
