Officer Deriek W. Crouse, aged 39, was tragically killed on December 8, 2011, during a routine traffic stop on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia. Officer Crouse, who had been with the Virginia Tech Police Department since October 2007, was conducting a traffic stop in the parking lot of Cassell Coliseum near McComas Hall around 12:15 p.m. when he was shot and killed.
