In the early morning hours of March 30, 2013, Marcellus A. Greene Sr., a man known affectionately as 'Bull,' was fatally shot in a drive-by incident in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Greene, a 45-year-old male from Culpeper, was working as a security guard at the Q-Ball Cafe on Bragg Road at the time of his death. Remembered as a 'gentle giant' standing well over six feet tall, he was a former semi-professional football player with the Prince William Monarchs.
The events leading to the shooting began with an altercation inside the nightclub, where two groups were attending a rap performance. After one group was ejected from the club by employees, they were involved in another dispute in the parking lot. Shortly after, individuals from this group drove by the front of the Q-Ball Cafe and fired several shots. Greene, who was positioned at the main entrance, was struck by the gunfire and died at the scene.
The investigation into Marcellus Greene's death led to the identification and arrest of multiple suspects. Lavon Antonio Chew, then 26, was quickly identified as a person of interest and was subsequently arrested. Another suspect, David Davion Burroughs, 25, of Stafford, was also taken into custody. A third man, Chauncey Cartier Lampkin, also known as 'Fresh,' was identified as the primary suspect and a nationwide search was initiated with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.
