On a Saturday night in Fredericksburg, Virginia, the life of 39-year-old Chinonso 'Chiboy' Ibe, a male resident of Stafford County, was tragically cut short. On June 26, 2021, at approximately 10:30 p.m., emergency dispatchers received calls reporting a shooting in the 100 block of Wellington Road. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Ibe suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting led authorities to identify a suspect in a relatively short amount of time. By the following morning, the Fredericksburg Police Department had taken 45-year-old Jacquin Davis of Fredericksburg into custody in connection with the fatal shooting.
The investigation suggested that Ibe had gone to the suspect's home to confront him, which ultimately led to the deadly encounter.
Following his arrest, Jacquin Davis was charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was subsequently held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. Davis was scheduled for an arraignment in the Fredericksburg General District Court on the Tuesday following the incident.
