In the quiet city of Suffolk, Virginia, a tragedy unfolded within the walls of a home on Nansemond River Drive, forever altering the lives of one family. It was here that 67-year-old Lucy Celenia Perry was found deceased in what authorities would later describe as a deeply sorrowful event. The discovery was made after a concerned neighbor noticed that the mail at the Perry residence had not been collected for some time and alerted the police.
