In the early morning hours of March 21, 2023, a tragic series of events unfolded inside a residence in Suffolk, Virginia, culminating in the death of 23-year-old Allyjah Rivera. A Hispanic female, Rivera was fatally shot in what authorities have described as a domestic-related incident. The shooting occurred at approximately 4:20 a.m. in a home on the 100 block of North 10th Street. When Suffolk Police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Rivera suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services from Suffolk Fire & Rescue provided immediate treatment and transported her to a local hospital, but her injuries proved fatal, and she was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
Present at the residence when law enforcement arrived was 29-year-old Darion Robb, who was identified as the individual who shot Rivera. Robb was taken into custody at the scene and subsequently charged with voluntary manslaughter. He was then transported to the Western Tidewater Regional Jail where he was held without bond. The investigation into Rivera's death continued, and on July 24, 2023, a Suffolk Circuit Court Grand Jury indicted Robb on the charge of voluntary manslaughter.
